DISRUPT MICRO-FLAKE® Bark Beetle Anti-Aggregant Products are manufactured in the form of small inert polymeric flakes formulated to provide a controlled-release of the naturally-occurring scents used by bark beetles to signal others of the species, and certain competing species, to avoid trees or forest areas already occupied by high beetle populations. When applied by ground or by air, these products function as "No Vacancy" signs to invading bark beetles seeking suitable host trees to infest, thereby causing them to avoid the treated trees or tree stands and move elsewhere. This naturally–triggered dispersal behavior can help to prevent the build-up of fatally damaging beetle concentrations on high value trees and in important forested areas. Two products are currently available, each formulated to be effective against specific species of bark beetles.

DISRUPT MICRO-FLAKE® VBN Bark Beetle Anti-Aggregant contains as its sole active ingredient the naturally-occurring scent substance, verbenone, used by mountain pine beetles (Dendroctonusponderosae) and others as an anti-aggregation signaling agent to avoid overcrowding in infested trees or tree stands. Verbenone is approved also as a food flavoring ingredient by the US Food & Drug Administration (FDA) and is commonly used in herbal teas. US Forest Service tests have demonstrated, with low to moderate beetle population levels, aerial application of relatively low rates of DISRUPT MICRO-FLAKE® VBN Flakes to tree stands can reduce the incidence of beetle attack on susceptible trees by about 65-70% compared to similar untreated stands. US Forest Service tests also have indicated ground application of DISRUPT MICRO-FLAKE® VBN Flakes with a suitable sticker agent directly onto the trunks of individual susceptible trees can provide a significant level of protection compared to similar untreated trees.

DISRUPT MICRO-FLAKE® VBN Flakes can be applied by air to large forested areas using a helicopter or fixed-wing aircraft equipped with suitable dry granule spreader equipment calibrated to deliver the labeled rate of product at the desired application speed. DISRUPT MICRO-FLAKE® VBN Flakes can be applied by ground to small forested areas or tree stands using a suitable hand-held fertilizer spreader or a modified blower such as the Hercon TURBO-TAC™ Applicator mounted on an ATV or other suitable vehicle. DISRUPT MICRO-FLAKE® VBN Flakes can be applied to individual trees using either a small hydroseeder applicator modified to deliver the required quantity of tank-mix containing product, sticker, thickener, and water to each tree, or using Hercon´s hand-held PODDS™ (Pheromone On Demand Delivery System) Applicator that can deliver preset quantities of pre-mix containing product, sticker, and thickener to each tree. These results also indicate it is likely ground application of DISRUPT MICRO-FLAKE® MCH Flakes with a suitable sticker agent directly onto the trunks of individual susceptible trees can provide a significant level of protection compared to similar untreated trees.

This LURE N KILL® Japanese Beetle Bait Pack consists of a dual sex lure and floral (food) lure system, which attracts two to five times more Japanese beetles than traps with only a single lure. The lures combine to draw male and female Japanese beetles into a trap…and away from valuable ornamentals, fruit trees, vegetables, flowers and shrubs. This product contains no killing agent to damage the environment and will not harm beneficial insects or attract nuisance animals. INSECTAPE Insecticidal Strips/Patches utilize the active ingredient propoxur (BAYGON®) as a toxicant/repellent to prevent insect infestations in telecommunications, utility, traffic control, and other types of sensitive equipment susceptible to insect caused malfunction. The product has two useful effects: 1) when applied inside enclosed spaces such as equipment boxes or cabinets, it has a repellent effect on most pest insect species that deters them from entering; 2) if insects enter anyway, they pick up enough toxicant to kill them when they to come in contact with the product as a result of their search behavior. In use, the controlled-release action of the product allows continuous release of fresh toxicant for a full year or more, depending on actual use conditions, providing cost-effective insect control to prevent insect caused malfunctions and equipment servicing problems.
