These products utilize naturally occurring pheromone "perfumes" produced by female insects to attract males of the same species for mating. SCOUT traps are available in two main types; disposable weather-resistant paperboard traps of various designs that use sticky surfaces to capture trapped insects, and reusable plastic traps of several types that use controlled–release toxicant strips to kill captured insects. Regardless of type, all require the use of pheromone or attractant lures in the trap to cause target insects to enter and become caught.
